William J. Olinger

William “Bill” Jerome Olinger, 81, born April 18, 1938, in Webster, Wisconsin, passed away March 15, 2020, in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Bill married Shirley (Hoover) Olinger in 1961. They resided in Bloomington, Minnesota, Des Moines, Iowa, and White Bear Lake, Minnesota. After working 35 years at Valspar Corp., they moved to their home on Bone Lake in Luck, Wisconsin. Bill loved golfing, fishing, hunting and traveling. The days on the lake were his most enjoyable with family and friends whether he was fishing, enjoying water sports or just cruising on the pontoon. Golfing at the golf course in Luck was very important. They wintered in Scottsdale where they eventually made their home. He loved his grandchildren, who he spoke of with pride and delight, his family, friends and his faith in God. His storytelling, sayings and zest for life were enjoyed by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Agnes; brothers, Jim and Richard; and his daughter-in-law, Lisa Olinger.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley; sons, Wm. Gary of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, and Randy (Kristi) of Edina, Minnesota; grandchildren, Charlie (Linden), Dina, Marshall and Jacob; siblings, John (Barb), Jerry (May) and Rosemarie (Bob) Lindberg; sisters-in-law, Carol and Donna Olinger, Kristi (Al) Beshire and Lauretta Hoover; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be in Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, at a later date.
